Calm Breathing (Seated Breathing Exercise)
Slow, easy breaths to relax the body and settle the mind.
corespine
How to do it
- 1Sit comfortably, one hand on your belly and one on your chest.
- 2Close your eyes if you like.
- 3Breathe in slowly through your nose and feel your belly rise.
- 4Breathe out a little longer than you breathe in.
Repeat for 6 breaths, breathing slowly. Move only as far as feels comfortable.
Why it helps
A longer breath out tells your body it is safe to relax. It helps with stress and with sleep.
