Medical Disclaimer

The ZenFit app, this website, our exercise pages, printable routines and articles provide general fitness information only. They are not medical advice and are not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a qualified healthcare professional.

Check with your doctor first

Talk to your doctor or physical therapist before starting chair yoga or any new exercise, especially if you have:

  • a heart or lung condition, or high blood pressure
  • osteoporosis or low bone density
  • a hip or knee replacement, or recent surgery or injury
  • dizziness, fainting or balance problems
  • severe arthritis or joint pain
  • any condition your doctor has asked you to be careful with

Exercise safely

  • Use a sturdy chair without wheels or armrests, on a non-slip floor.
  • Move slowly and only as far as is comfortable. Never push into pain.
  • Breathe normally. Don't hold your breath.
  • Every exercise page lists an easier option and who should skip it. Use them.
  • Sit for a moment before standing up after a session.

Stop immediately and seek medical help if you feel chest pain, pressure or tightness, shortness of breath, dizziness or faintness, or sharp or unusual pain. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

About our instructor

The ZenFit video instructor is AI-generated. The movements follow exercise sequences we design for older adults, but the instructor cannot see you and does not give personal advice.

Accuracy

We base our content on published guidance for older adults, such as the CDC and the U.S. National Institute on Aging, and update it when guidance changes. Everyone's body is different: always follow the advice of your own healthcare provider.
